Ellen Binder, M.D.

Dr. Binder has been a faculty member at WUSM for 26 years while raising 2 children. She employed a full-time in-home caregiver for 13 years and also utilized nearby relatives for extra support during periods of business travel, grant deadlines, sick children, etc.  As a dual career couple, her former husband shared childrearing responsibilities, and they both maintained a focus on balancing work responsibilities and family life.  She also credits a flexible work schedule and colleagues with helping to achieve that balance. She has successfully managed a number of personal challenges (family illnesses, death, divorce) while working full-time, through which she learned to adjust goals, maintain a positive attitude, and achieve happiness and fulfillment in her personal and work life.
