2024 Dean’s Impact Award Recipient

Sanjeev Bhalla, MD, has been recognized nationally and internationally for his consistent involvement in educating and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty within radiology and across other specialties. He is widely respected by residents and fellows not only for his extensive cardiothoracic imaging expertise and clinical insight, but also because he takes a personal interest in each trainee’s professional and personal development well beyond their time at WashU Medicine. Bhalla has had a long and distinguished career touching many different aspects of radiology through education, mentorship and advancing the careers of others. He was named the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology Teacher of the Year in 2003, 2011 and 2017, and is a 16-time recipient of the department’s Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a four-time recipient of the Radiological Society of North America’s Honored Educator Award. In 2021, Bhalla was named the American Roentgen Ray Society’s Distinguished Educator and received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the American Alliance of Academic Chief Residents in Radiology. As section chief, Bhalla supervises and mentors medical students and residents on the cardiothoracic imaging service, three fellows and 19 faculty.
