Anna N. Miller, MD, FAAOS, FACS, FAOA, has made significant contributions as both a mentor and sponsor of faculty, residents and medical students at WashU Medicine and around the country. She is seen as a key leader in her department, holds numerous national leadership positions in industry organizations and has tremendous influence across the field. Within her department, Miller leads the Women in Orthopedics group, influencing medical students to enter the specialty of orthopedics. She spends an extraordinary amount of time in her mentoring duties, including regular meetings with all junior faculty members as well as meetings with mid-career faculty members and more senior faculty members to promote mentoring. In particular, she has organized a junior faculty mentoring program that ensures that each young surgeon within the department is able to achieve their personal, professional and career goals with support and sponsorship of academic leaders.
