Bettina Mittendorfer, Ph.D.

Dr. Mittendorfer, a native Austrian, joined WUSM in 1999 as a post-doc and has been a faculty member for 12 years while raising her child as a single parent.  She has maintained work-life balance by careful planning and prioritizing, living close to work, selecting schools and summer camps within a narrow radius around work/home and on campus after school activities (incl. sports and music programs).  She believes in being an involved parent and earning “me time” from “you time”.  She works after bed time or while the child is busy himself at home or away. She is engaged in her son’s school and music program (she recently started piano lessons herself) and is well-integrated in the parent community at her son’s school.
