Ken Blumer, Ph.D.

Dr. Blumer has been a faculty member at WUSM for 23 years while raising 2 children. He and his wife have experience with several working arrangements –first both employed full time, then one working full time while one stayed home, and then returning to work on a part-time basis. He has maintained work-life balance by living close to work, employing full-time day care for their first child, prioritizing family dinner, and compartmentalizing work and home lives. He and his wife are involved with Clayton schools at various levels, Clayton Family Center, various kids’ sports teams, and church youth group. Their family has connections with many schools and family service groups in the STL area, especially the Special School District, due to his wife’s work as a foreign language interpreter who serves immigrant and special needs families.
