Vincent “Vinnie” M. Mellnick, MD, is an alumnus of the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology’s training programs, and his dedication to mentorship and teaching was evident even as a resident when he served as chief resident, mentoring medical students and residents in the classes below him. As faculty, he continues to teach and mentor dozens of medical students and residents annually through the clinical service, didactic conferences, and collaboration on educational research projects. He has served as an MIR resident mentor since 2013 and has mentored close to 40 trainees in that time. He has also served as a medical student research mentor since 2016. In recognition of his love of teaching and mentorship, he has been the recipient of MIR’s Distinguished Teaching Award more than six times and has received the Teacher of the Year Award. His mentoring crosses over to editorial boards for multiple journals. He is active on many hospital committees and is an invaluable teacher, mentor and role model for our trainees. Mellnick is an impactful servant leader and clinician educator extraordinaire.
